About the Area
The beautiful Costa Verde is on the North Coast of Spain. A wonderful lush, green area. The wildlife, flowers and breathtaking scenery, bring visitors who enjoy walking, rafting, cycling, fishing, bird watching, etc., back here time and time again.

Asturias, located between Galicia and Cantabria, is particularly noted for its Cider (Sidra) produced from the hard green apple, growing nearly all over the region. The Cider Museum in Nava is well worth a visit.

The vast almost deserted beaches and coves are clean and unspoilt.
M.U.J.A. The Jurassic Museum at Colunga is fascinating and provides information about the famous Dinosaur Footprints along the coast.

The food here is fresh and varied. The meat is outstanding and I haven't seen anything that has been near a freezer in my local Butchers. Fish is very popular and Garlic (ajo) is used in many main dishes. Some of the cheeses are well worth trying. If you are vegetarian, no problem. Most restaurants and bars now understand this and there is a wonderful array of choice.
If you don't speak much Spanish - don't worry! A dictionary or phrase book, to help you translate the extensive menus/or just to assist with the weekly shop, is a must and the staff will help as much as they can. Not all food items are to everyones taste and very few people here speak English.
A few of the local people here speak a different dialect of Spanish - Asturiano(u) which is worth being aware of. Everyone likes to chat and they are amiable and open - as is so often said of Spain. In just a little time you will learn so much here.
